I’m a retired business management teacher who has always had a passion for creativity. During my days, among other things, I make art. Sometimes I paint, sometimes I draw; sometimes I create cards to send to family and friends. I try to create something every day, even if it’s just a sketch. It keeps me sane; it keeps me calm; and it keeps my creative juices flowing. But the ‘teacher’ in me is still there, and that’s why I established Gabi’s Card Creations. Teaching is what I do, only now, instead of management theory, it’s cardmaking techniques and ideas that will, hopefully, unleash the artist in you.

As you can imagine, I make and send a lot of greeting cards to whoever is in need of a little handmade love and encouragement. In this fast-paced and busy world in which we live, it’s quick and easy to pop into a store and buy a commercially made card, but how nice to spend some time making a card instead. Card-making should be relaxing - it actually takes me to my happy place - and a blessing for the recipient. Sending handmade cards shows that you care and, if you’re anything like me, you’ll keep the card and hold onto the memory it evokes. There’s no doubt that the beauty and personal touch in a handmade card can make that memory stronger.

So, if you’re new to card-making this is a great place to start. If you’re an established card-maker, it’s a place where you can pick up new ideas and, perhaps, use your supplies in different ways. Everyone is an artist in their own way, so don’t be afraid to release your creativity. There are no rules. The first step is always the most difficult. So, be brave…and join me on the journey.
